Sustainability in practice at Thermenresort Laa

Preserve. Relax. Experience.

For over twenty years, the Therme Laa | Hotel | Silent Spa | Villas has been synonymous with exceptional relaxation and well-being, with sustainability defined as a core value from the outset. Eco-friendly practices, energy-efficient technologies and local organic products benefit the environment and enhance your overall experience. The Thermenresort Laa meets all its energy needs from renewable energy sources.

Use and protect

District heating and cooperation with regional businesses have been standard practice right from the start. Since 2006, the resort has been accessible by rapid transit train, and since 2024, guests at Silent Villas have enjoyed an electric shuttle service. In 2021, the entire resort switched to LED lighting and has been powered entirely by 100% green electricity since 2023.

Another milestone for the Thermenresort Laa is the current installation of a photovoltaic system, with more than 2,000 modules on the roof of the spa, the hotel, and the parking lots. In future, around 20 % of the annual electricity requirements will be produced in-house. As part of its resource-saving and sustainable management strategy, the Thermenresort Laa is currently pursuing certification from the Austrian Ecolabel.

Like other VAMED Vitality World resorts, we follow the “give and take” approach. Water and energy are consumed, but these previous resources are used responsibly, and sustainable cycles are implemented wherever technically possible.

Expansion drives ecological progress

With the gradual expansion of our facilities over the years, the ecological challenges have also become commensurately greater. Three of these are evident in the spa garden, which was created in 2008. In keeping with the principle of buying locally, it was created by a local service provider. Equipped with state-of-the-art underground irrigation, water consumption is reduced to a minimum, which is particularly important in the dry climate of the eastern Weinviertel region (famous for its wine production). Heat- and drought-resistant plants make an important contribution to biodiversity and have formed a lush oasis of well-being.

When constructing the Silent Spa in 2015 and the exclusive Silent Villas in 2023, careful attention was paid to the use of natural materials and incorporating sustainability into the operating concepts from the outset. Cooperation with regional partners was, of course, once again the focus: Around 90 % of the added value was sustainably invested in Lower Austria, with 85 % directed specifically to the Weinviertel region.

Employee well-being

In times of skilled labor shortages, the Thermenresort Laa offers promising career opportunities. The course for the future was set some time ago with the "Work and Family" certification and extensive health-related measures. Employee benefits, such as free access to the hotel's own e-bikes and bicycles, complimentary fitness programs and free drinks in the staff cafeteria, boost motivation and help create a positive work environment.
